Physiokey (Key) Therapy
Using advanced SCENAR Technology
~ Gentle
~ Non-invasive
~ effective with many chronic and acute conditions
Physiokey (Key) therapy is one of the latest developments in bio-feedback therapy. This treatment can be used for patients of all ages and provides treatment options for acute and chronic pain as well as the improvement and recovery of function. The device itself is a small hand-held device that emits a short-duration electrical signal into the body via the skin; treatment is gentle and non-invasive. Varying frequencies are used, and effect is achieved through the stimulation of trigger points and acupuncture points. Physiokey also has a profound effect on the central nervous system (CNS), and shifts patients out of the fight or flight response associated with injury and pain to a state of relaxation. This effect on the CNS strengthens the body’s defense and shows the body a route to self-healing.
Key therapy is based on two ideas. One, that our bodies have the ability to heal naturally if our adaptive and immune systems are strong, and two, that our bodies are always trying to come back to homeostasis (balance). The physiokey device assists in regulating the body’s vital functions through close connection and interaction with the nervous and endocrine systems. Through the bio-feedback mechanism the device is continually monitoring, and ‘in conversation’ with one’s body. Electrical signals are sent from the point of pain to the brain encouraging the body to release a number of biologically active chemical modulators. Two of many of these are neuropeptides and endorphins, which accelerate healing and pain control. Physiokey also activates the neuropeptide producing, and ‘difficult to excite’, c-fibers which make up more than 70% of the body’s neural tracts. Through numerical readings on the device, and changes in the skin, the practitioner is able to effectively monitor and guide the course of therapy.
Treatments using bio-feedback technology have been given internationally to millions of people without any recorded negative side effects. Even though the technology uses an electrical current, it is not painful in any way. Key therapy sessions are done on a massage table or chair, and the idea is to deeply relax the body and calm the CNS so one naturally and effortlessly returns to a state of recovery.
Treatable Conditions
Key therapy has been successfully used for a broad range of chronic and acute ailments and injuries including, but not limited to, spine and limb pain; head, neck and back pain; sciatica; scar tissue removal; myofascial pain and release; shoulder injuries; migraines; arthritis; neuropathic pain; and general pain related to fibromyalgia. It is also an excellent choice for speeding up the recovery of knee and hip replacement surgery.
Contraindications
• cardiac pacemaker or other electrically powered implant
• Electrode placement over malignant tumours

"Concerns arising from the overuse of analgesic medications and opioid addiction have increased the need in non-pharmacological treatment for pain management including the
development of devices using modern technology to relieve pain."
I have been amazed at the Physiokey treatments I’ve received from Renee Burgess. For the past decade or more,
I’ve put up with chronic neck and shoulder pain from all the work I do on the computer; massage helped me maintain functionality, but within one
treatment from Renee I felt a real freedom from pain and increased mobility in my shoulders. And it has just got better and better! The
treatment seems to last and I keep feeling increased well being. Not only do I feel better, but the treatment and Renee’s excellent observation skills
have revealed some underlying
issues that indicate a portion of my chronic issues are not just ergonomic- I’ve been able to tackle managing those too. And lastly, Renee herself is
generous, calm, knowledgeable and respectful. I highly recommend these wonderful treatments with Renee!

On January 11, 2016 I was diagnosed with moderate to advanced arthritis in my right knee. I felt hopeless after I was told that I had no options because I was too young to have knee surgery. At this point I had a very noticeable limp, my pain level was about 8 out of 10, and the only relief I could find was when I took extra strength Advil. That was me before I called Renee and began Physiokey Therapy. We started treatments twice a week, and then tapered off to once every 2-3 weeks as my knee and body began to feel tremendously better. Without Renee I would not have been able to continue working. Last time I visited my physiotherapist, he was amazed at my recovery and could see a remarkable difference in my knee. This is all a result of Physiokey Therapy. I would encourage everyone to try this because there are no side effects and the treatment feels great. I recommend it to anyone suffering with chronic pain; you will be as amazed as I am. Physiokey therapy has been more than a life saver it has been a life giver! I can’t thank Renee enough.

After one session with Renee, I found a difference in chronic mobility and flexibility problems. I had given up yoga classes a few years ago due to inflammation in various joints. I noticed tightness and shortening in my thighs and calves, thinking that was more of a problem than the degree of arthritis itself. When I heard of Physiokey Therapy I booked one session and because of the results, I continued for four more sessions. In my 70s I realize that realistically this body has endured its share of wear and tear, but after five treatments I have improvements in chronic neck and leg movements. The best news for me is that I can take care of my feet and toenails, which I haven't been able to do for ages. Thank you Renee. Because of your skills, wisdom and warm professionalism, I highly recommend these treatments with you.

The Physiokey treatments I have received from Renee Burgess have been amazing. For 20+ years I have suffered with chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain to the point where surgery was anticipated. Since discovering Physiokey, and most importantly Renee, I am pleased to say that I have not required surgery, I have been able to give up the horrible drug Celebrex, and I am back to playing golf four times a week. Renee is very friendly, reliable and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Renee and Physiokey treatments to anyone with discomfort and chronic joint pain.

I began seeing Renee for help with back pain caused by spinal stenosis. Physiokey therapy was very helpful. I was no longer in constant pain due to muscle spasms and inflammation, and I was able to substantially reduce my medication. In January 2021 I had a knee replacement. Renee attended to me in my home, and within three weeks the pain and inflammation was gone and I had full range of motion. I was able to quickly move through my physiotherapy treatments at the hospital and get back on my feet. Renee is very professional and knowledgeable; I highly recommend these treatments.

After exploring traditional avenues in search of pain relief and experiencing great frustration at finding no easing of my distress, I discovered Physiokey therapy. The results of a few treatments on my knee was an enormous change with the pain subsiding and in fact being eliminated. The focus was on overall healing and pain relief. Following a free consultation to determine if I might have some success, the treatment proved to be very effective. It also pointed me in the direction to consider my body as a whole and not just focus on the area that made me seek relief in the first place. Without hesitation I would recommend exploring Physiokey therapy as a step to alleviating pain that can so easily become the center of our lives.
